Coffee anyone?Whether in supersacked, bagged, or even in bulk, the NOPB is ready to make it happen when it comes to the transport of coffee via railcar or container. New Orleans being a large North American entry point for the bean, we currently move a sizeable amount of coffee via railcar. On-dock COFC service is also available in conjunction with the Canadian National Railway. Serve Memphis, Chicago, Detroit, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver via CN and understand you can move a 55-metric ton container from on-dock rail at New Orleans to Canada and this same container is legal weight in Canada. So New Orleans on-dock COFC can be used as a ‘bridge’ to move heavy-loaded containers to/from the U.S. to Canada. With numerous vessel calls from coffee-producing nations, especially in Latin America, as well as the necessary inland transport links via boxcar, hopper or COFC, NOPB is well-positioned to handle this cargo and many more cargoes. PL 480 CARGO - bagged AND BULK AG productsNOPB moves bagged agricultural products such as USDA Food Aid for export. Because these commodities are sourced from a variety of inland production points on various rail lines, New Orleans is an ideal place from which to export these products; with 6 Class 1 rail connections to choose from, tying in a 132,000 mile rail network directly to the Port, New Orleans is always a direct link from shipper to vessel. A direct link means speedier transit time and ensures the lowest rail rates possible. Lastly our ample track capacities at our many wharves and consistent and frequent switching accordingly to your needs will allow for greater production and reduction of variable costs such as demurrage. Need cold storage and transport of your food products?New Orleans Cold Storage and Warehouse Company, Ltd. is one of the largest refrigerated warehouse companies in the Gulf. NOPB handles transport of refrigerated railcars of frozen poultry and meat products, most of which is exported through the Port of New Orleans to points in Asia, Africa, and Central America among other places. In addition, fresh product is trucked in from the local farms in Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas, frozen at New Orleans Cold Storage and sent by railcar for export to Asia via West Coast ports. NOPB and New Orleans are a perfect fit for this cargo. Connecting with BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad, the only owners of refrigerated boxcar equipment, we are able to supply the equipment needs of our customers. Rail rates to and from New Orleans are far superior to other Gulf ports east of New Orleans because most of these ports do not connect with railroads BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad. This forces a two-railroad routing and increases transport cost and transit time. |
